At Empower Every Body Fitness, our youth fitness and athletic development programs help children and teens build strength, coordination, confidence, and resilience — both inside and outside the gym.

Our Vancouver-based youth fitness programs are designed specifically for athletes aged 8–17, with age-appropriate coaching that supports long-term development, injury prevention, and a positive relationship with movement.

Whether your child is brand new to fitness, plays sports recreationally, or competes at a high level, we meet them where they are — and help them progress safely and confidently.

Youth Fitness Programs at Empower

Youth fitness programs: junior varsity

Junior Varsity

Ages: 8-12

Best for: Kids building foundational movement skills

Prerequisites: None

Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:00-5:00 pm

Start date: Monthly

Junior Varsity introduces athletes to the fundamentals of functional fitness in a fun, supportive environment. Athletes learn basic strength training, gymnastics-style movements, and conditioning using age-appropriate tools like PVC pipes before progressing to external load.

Classes often include games and challenges that develop coordination, balance, and stabilizing muscles — helping kids work hard while having fun.

Athletes can progress to Varsity when they age up and are ready for more advanced training.

Youth fitness programs: varsity

Varsity

Ages: 13-17

Best for: Teens ready for structured athletic training

Prerequisites: Coach assessment

Times: Mondays & Wednesdays, 4:00-5:00 pm

Start date: Monthly

Varsity is designed for teenage athletes who want to build strength, improve performance, and reduce injury risk. Training includes scaled weightlifting, gymnastics, and conditioning — all coached to ensure proper mechanics and appropriate intensity.

We place a strong emphasis on:

  • Core strength and stability

  • Injury prevention

  • Confidence-building through mastery and progression

An assessment ensures each athlete transitions into the program safely. One-to-one coaching is available if additional preparation is needed.

Youth fitness programs: homeschool PE

Homeschool PE

Ages: 9-17

Best for: Homeschool families seeking structured physical education

Prerequisites: None

Times: Wednesdays, 3:00-4:00 pm

Starts: Next session will be September 2026

Homeschool PE is a CrossFit-based youth fitness program that blends cardio, strength training, and gymnastics for well-rounded physical development.

Athletes train in a positive, social environment that emphasizes:

  • Safe strength training

  • Movement quality

  • Partner workouts and games

  • Confidence and fun!

This program provides consistency, structure, and social connection for homeschool athletes.

Youth fitness programs: team training

Team Training

Ages: 9-18

Best for: Sports teams between seasons

Prerequisites: None

Empower offers dryland strength and conditioning for youth sports teams looking to stay strong and prepared between seasons.

Whether your team is coming off the ice, out of the pool, or between competitions, we design training that supports:

  • Strength development

  • Injury prevention

  • Sport-specific demands

Programs are customized based on team size, sport, and schedule.

Youth fitness programs: personal training

Youth Personal Training

Ages: 8-17

Best for: Athletes wanting individualized support

Prerequisites: None

Start date: Let's talk!

Youth Personal Training is fully customized to support your athlete’s specific goals — whether that’s building confidence, returning from injury, improving sport performance, or training around a busy schedule.

Training options include:

  • 1:1 personal training

  • Small group training (1:2–1:4) with friends or teammates

This is an excellent option if group class times don’t work, your child thrives one-on-one, or your athlete needs targeted support.

Meet Your Coach: Leon

Empower’s youth fitness programs are led by Coach Leon, who specializes in long-term athletic development for children and teens. Leon focuses on teaching strong movement foundations, building confidence, and creating a safe, positive training environment where young athletes can progress at their own pace.

He works closely with each athlete to ensure movements are scaled appropriately and that training supports both performance and injury prevention — whether a child is new to fitness or competing in sport.

What if my child doesn’t play sports?

Can siblings or friends train together?

Often, yes. Depending on age and readiness, siblings or friends may train in the same program or together through youth personal training or small group sessions.
