Summer Season

Three Two-Week Sessions | Mon- Thurs 9:30-11:30am

Session 1: July 6-17 • Session 2: July 20- 31 • Session 3: August 3- 14

Our Summer Youth Rowing Season runs over six weeks, meeting four mornings a week—Monday thru Thursday from 9:30–11:30am. Rowers can also take part in optional Fun Friday evening races every other week at 5:00pm (families welcome to cheer them on and join post-race celebration) and additional travel race opportunities offered as the season unfolds.

This program is all about making the most of summer on the water—building skills, confidence, fitness, and friendships, while having fun as a team. Whether you’re brand new to rowing, looking to improve for another sport, or excited to train and race competitively, there’s a place for you here.

Open to rising 6th graders through high school (younger participants may join with staff approval), our program meets rowers where they are and helps them grow—on and off the water.

Please plan to arrive on time – boats leave the dock promptly and cannot return for late arrivals. We wrap up each session on time to ensure smooth and timely pickup.

Our Youth Program Director and Coach, Frank Townsend, coordinates all youth rowing programs and is happy to answer any questions at programdirector@rowcmi.org.

IMPORTANT DETAILS

To participate, all rowers must sign the CMI waiver and accept our safety policy. Additionally, every youth and their parent are required to watch the US Rowing Safety video, an industry standard covering essential water/land safety, weather awareness, and emergency protocols.

What to know for your rowing session

  • Layers are key! It can be warmer on land than on the water- or the other way around!

  • Your feet will get wet & the boat ramp can be slippery. Wear water shoes, crocs, old sneakers, etc. but not flip flops.

  • Water bottle

  • Cap with visor and/or sunglasses

  • Wear sunblock

As always, CMI believes that cost should never be a barrier to rowing so please do not hesitate to reach out to administrator@rowcmi.org and we'll find options to keep you rowing!
