Spring rowing is an exciting and energizing time at CMI — all about challenge, growth, and getting stronger together — and we can’t wait to get back on the water. With shifting winds, cooler temps, and dynamic conditions, it’s a season that builds resilience, teamwork, and real confidence in the boat.
This program is best suited for experienced rowers ready to sharpen their skills on the water. If you participated in our winter indoor training and are interested, reach out — we’re happy to talk about whether it’s the right fit and how to get you started.
The Spring Season runs eight weeks from April 7 through June 4 (no classes April 20-26). We meet three days per week, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, at 3:45 pm. The goals are to get fit, have fun, and, for some, to train for summer racing.
The season is in two parts:
April 7 - April 16: Land Training - 3:45-5:30 at Cohasset Recreation, 100 Sohier St
Wear indoor athletic wear for training and bring sneakers to change into plus a water bottle and towel.
April 28 - June 4: On the Water - 3:45-5:30 at Mariner’s Landing, 40 Parker Ave
Arrive early, as we leave the dock promptly. We can’t return to pick you up, and we can’t drop you off early. We will have the boats put away in time for pickup at 5:30.
Dress warm and in layers. You’ll need running shoes, water shoes, an extra pair of dry socks, a hat, gloves, a sweatshirt, and an outer shell like a windbreaker. It is always ten degrees colder on the water! Also have a t-shirt and shorts in case we need to be indoors.
Spring is not an ideal time to learn to row on the water, as it can be cold and windy, occasionally frustrating if you are brand new. If you have rowed with us indoors this winter or don't have any experience, we can accommodate you if you are motivated! Contact: Program Director Frank Townsend programdirector@rowcmi.org
IMPORTANT DETAILS
To participate all rowers will read and sign our waiver and accept our safety policy as part of their registration. In addition we ask every rower to review the US Rowing Safety video. It's a staple for most rowing clubs as it covers important knowledge for on the water, on the land, weather indicators, and how to respond in an emergency.
