DENIS GRANADO

Being involved in sports for as long as I can remember, from football to basketball to lacrosse, I have always enjoyed the thrilling and competitive aspects as well as the “brotherhood feeling” you build with your teammates after long practices and challenging games. I was fortunate enough to play football collegiately and even continued to play basketball on intramural teams and pickup games. However, after my college years ended, this stopped as I became tied down to a full-time job and other responsibilities. Unfortunately, this led to an inactive lifestyle which resulted in unhealthy eating and gaining weight.

Like most people, I tried the typical “Globo Gym”. While results were successful in short periods, there was something about having to wait for a treadmill or the bench station that kept me away from the gym. That feeling completely changed when I found CrossFit.

The moment I walked into a CrossFit gym, I knew I wanted to join. I didn’t need time to think about it – I just signed up. It would be an understatement to say that the first few weeks were tough, constantly asking myself “how did I let myself get so out of shape?” Regardless, the drive I felt when playing sports quickly returned and with every workout I performed, I just wanted to keep coming back. As days passed by, the workouts got easier as I continued to push my limits, regain my fitness and learned new skills. I also built new friendships that brought back that sense of family I missed from the days I was involved in team sports. To say the least, I was “hooked.”

Soon after, I became a Certified CrossFit Trainer which has allowed me to share my experiences and motivate people to live an active and healthy lifestyle. From the challenging workouts to the sense of community that CrossFit brings, THAT’S what keeps me coming back to every day.
