Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

In the beginning stages of your training we emphasize the fundamental and basic techniques that will eventually be your solid foundation for this exciting martial art. Because the techniques are constantly changing and evolving, we try to offer the most up-to-date techniques coming out of the competition scene.

GI vs. NO-GI

While the majority of our BJJ classes are traditional Gi classes, we do offer no-gi grappling classes as well. A main difference in Gi classes is students are required to wear a uniform and belt, following specific guidelines and earning ranks. Whereas no-gi is an unranked class without the use of the Gi for grips, control and certain submissions. Many students enjoy doing both classes and will learn a valuable ground martial art in each.

COMPETITION

Competition is a fun aspect of this martial art and is a fun and safe way to test and apply your skills. We recommend competition but do not make it a requirement for your progress. Many students just like to train for their own reasons other than competition such as self defense, fun, fitness, etc. If competition is your goal, all of our instructors have extensive competition experience and will work with you on your goals to achieve success!

GETTING IN SHAPE

Training at our academy is a great way to become and stay fit! The beautiful thing about training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is that you will be having a lot of fun while you’re getting in shape. Students lose weight without even focusing on it. You will also be learning an incredibly effective martial art at the same time.

SUPPLEMENT YOUR CURRENT MARTIAL ARTS TRAINING

Many students at Team Link Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy are students and instructors of other martial arts themselves. We have a very open mind and our students do also. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a wonderful supplement to striking based martial arts such as taekwondo, karate, wrestling, kickboxing, etc. Many martial artists know Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu will make them a more balanced and complete fighter.
